Always Safe, Always Prepared

Please enjoy this edition of the Family Survival Evening Post, a completely free comprehensive survival and preparedness publication sent to give you the knowledge and skills you'll need to be always safe and secure no matter what happens.

I read a comment recently on a popular message board that read “How silly is doomsday prepping????”

Disaster and emergency preparedness is not silly.  People face potentially inconvenient, uncomfortable and even life threatening challenges every day.
Imagine being stuck on the Interstate in a snow or ice storm or a traffic jam caused by an accident.  Imagine being without power at home for a day or a week.
Would you be able to flush your toilet?
 Cook?
Keep warm?

For most people the answer is Noooo....

Fill your car to drive out of the area if gas stations didn't have power either?

It might be useful to be prepared so you don't have to wait your turn with all the other unprepared people.  If you can look after yourself and your family for a few days, you won't be at the mercy of others and may even be helpful to your neighbors.

Some areas of the country are prone to the worst possible scenarios.  A major earthquake in parts of California is a real possibility.  It may look a lot like "doomsday."  Did Katrina and Sandy ring any bells?
Being ready so you and your family aren't one of thousands needing immediate assistance might be prudent.
As far as the apocalyptic scenarios, one should see that many of them are possible.  How probable a total end of the world collapse is what is in question. What would be silly would be to dismiss them without an evaluation as accurate and open-minded as possible.

There are many reasons people become preppers.  Some get fixated on one scenario without seeming to consider the likelihood.  We tend to associate with people who think like us, so doomsday scenarios proponents tend to run in packs. Many scenarios have definite political or religious affiliations and preppers seem to be at one end of our very polarized society.

It comes down to a matter of chances. What are the chances of a nuclear war going down, or an alien invasion, or a zombie apocalypse, or a total economic collapse and so on?

Let's say such a doomsday scenario really happens. What are the chances of someone who prepared the entire life to survive that scenario?
Or, if you prepared yourself for a zombie apocalypse, would you survive a nuclear holocaust? And the other way around.

Whatever - just like in Boy Scouts  " Always Be Prepared! "

P.S. The best weapon you can carry is the one you can always have with you, regardless of where you are.
There is one such weapon

It fits in your pocket, is as deadly as a gun, and best of all, it’s allowed on a PLANE.
You can see it here.
